STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM activities aim to inspire and develop the next generation of scientists and engineers by gathering students together regularly in informal environments to work on inquiry-based, hands-on activities. The students explore in a supportive and fun environment while growing in their ability to collaborate and to learn from each other.
Interest in STEM subjects has traditionally been low in Thailand. In the past few years the Thailand ministry of education has been promoting them, but most students continue to perceive these subjects as too difficult and unrelated to everyday life. Furthermore, many are not offered opportunities to be involved in STEM activities.
SEEDS volunteers in Bangkok are partnering with neighborhood leaders to inspire and develop students toward STEM subjects and careers.
