Tsunamis, floods, earthquakes, and economic events that send powerful shockwaves around the globe bring calamity and discouragement to millions of people. Southeast Asia’s (SEA) people are resilient; in the face of grave challenges they continue to move forward. SEEDS aims to help the march forward in eradicating extreme poverty & hunger as set out in the first millennial development goal that was established by the United Nations Development Programme in 2000. Although the development level of SEA’s economies varies significantly, poverty is still rampant in almost every part of the region. On our own we cannot solve the problem of poverty, but through partnerships reaching the goal becomes realistic.

SEEDS recognizes these challenges and based on its understanding of SEA’s hurdles, it offers hope and solutions. SEEDS desires to partner with people who are ready and willing to share their gifts, abilities, and service in communities in SEA. Stretching from Bangkok to Bali and Phnom Penh to Padang, SEEDS aims to bring dynamic and community-changing people together to impact SEA. With skills, resources, and most importantly, a desire to serve, SEEDS’ partners bring hope and encouragement for a thriving future of socioeconomic and educational development throughout the region.

Educators and community developers from SEA and from other regions of the world have abilities and knowledge that they want to use to help others. SEEDS endeavors to bring these talented and committed people to SEA to help communities learn to improve their social and economic lives and to educate the future leaders of SEA. The community development and education that SEEDS sponsors is not done thousands of miles away in a different nation and culture, but within the local community or in a nearby university in the student’s own country.

SEEDS sponsors community relief and development workers as well as educators so that they can conduct their work effectively throughout the region. Through SEEDS’ vetting process, SEEDS ensures that highly skilled and committed people will help communities and individuals develop themselves and eventually their nation. Because of the donation of philanthropic people and institutions in Singapore, in greater Southeast Asia, and beyond, SEEDS ensures that each development worker will have the financial support to conduct their work without becoming a burden in any way upon their surrounding community.

As a not-for-profit organization, composed of talented people from all five continents, SEEDS values people of SEA and desires to serve people regardless of their social, economic, religious, or ethnic background. SEEDS is a registered society headquartered in Singapore and serving the entire Southeast Asian region.

SEEDS recognizes that people need hope. Hope comes from within, but after generations of living hand-to-mouth, hope for a better future for one’s family, community, and even country must also come from without.
